On our offshore fishing trips, we fish for Mako Shark, Thresher Shark, Porbeagle Shark, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Longfin tuna better known as Albacore, Bigeye Tuna, Swordfish, Wahoo, Tilefish, Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi (Dorado), White Marlin, Cod, Pollack and Haddock. These fishing trips will take you just south of Block Island or out to the offshore canyons including Atlantis, "The Tails", Hudson and Veatch. The sea life is abundant in the canyons, and you have a good chance of seeing whales, dolphins (porpoises) and birds that inhabit the offshore waters including Shear Waters and Storm Petrels.
On our inshore fishing trips we fish for Striped bass, Bluefish, Tautog (Blackfish), Black Seabass, Scup, Fluke, False Albacore, Green Bonita, and Winter Flounder. All of these fish can be caught just a short distance from Watch Hill Point where you will have great views of the Watch Hill Light House and Napatree Point. There is also great fishing along Misquamicut beach and the fish rich areas around Block Island and Fishers Island.
After your sportfishing trip on the Billfish, we will clean and bag your catch for you to bring home and enjoy with family and friends.
We also offer scuba diving trips. Scuba trips are open to certified divers only. Rhode Island has many ship wrecks and abundant sea life. The water visibility can range from 0' to 30'. In Rhode Island, you can spearfish for Striped Bass, Tautog, Black Seabass, Fluke and Bluefish. Wreck dives are exciting. Most wrecks have been broken up by the storms, but they attract all of the fish that we can catch up on the surface. You may also see lobsters hiding under these wrecks. There are several well known wrecks just a short boat ride from Westerly Rhode Island and well within sight of land. Bring along a camera to take pictures underwater as you will see plenty of marine life to capture on film.
We offer sightseeing cruises for the folks who are not interested in fishing, but would like to enjoy a boat ride affording a water view of the coast of Rhode Island, Connecticut and views of Fishers Island NY. The fall is an excellent time for sight seeing by boat as the change of season brings changes to the foliage along the coast lines, and you can get a nautical perspective of the changing foliage. Viewing Watch Hill Light house is also spectacular in the fall.
Watch Hill is an easy destination to get to and provides access to all of the great fishing destinations like Watch Hill Reef, Block Island and Montauk NY. The Pawcatuck river splits Connecticut and Rhode Island. The Pawcatuck River flows into Little Narragansett Bay which then feeds into Block Island Sound and Fishers Island Sound. By car, Westerly Rhode Island is an easy two (2) hour ride from New York City, and believe it or not, a shorter and less stressful ride than the ride to Montauk NY from New York City. A short drive off of Interstate 95 (I95) brings you to Watch Hill. Watch Hill Rhode Island is less than 2 hours from Springfield and Boston Massachusetts.
Westerly also has other attractions including Misquamicut Beach, and Watch Hill Light House. So bring your family, and if they do not enjoy fishing, they will have plenty to see and do on land. Westerly has restaurants ranging from fast food to five star class. Accommodations are available within a 15 minute drive from the marina. We are also close to the big casinos in Connecticut, including Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. If you are successful fishing, and catch a fish of a lifetime, you can head to one of the casinos to see if your luck holds at one of the games.
