The simple fact is that by water Block Island is the same distance from either of our two Rhode Island ports. Captain Tom Logan
Highly respected Fish Trap Sportfishing owner, operator and charter captain, Tom Logan, has fished from Maine to Florida, California to Hawaii and up north to Alaska. He has held a registered USCG Captain's License for over 25 years. He has a commercial fishing background and enjoys fishing the offshore deep sea ocean canyons for tuna and billfish as well as the inshore waters for striped bass, blackfish, flounder and more. He also enjoys diving and spearfishing when he's not on his boat fishing.
Captain Tom Logan holds a OUPV coastal water license and is a certified member of the Rhode Island Party and Charter Boat Association. Capt. Tom sincerely wants to make your next Rhode Island fishing experience a memorable one.
Our Charter Rates (The Best in Rhode Island!)
Fish Trap is a 1999 36' Wayne Beal custom deep sea sportfisher. She has an all fiberglass construction repowered in 2014 with a state-of-the-art 500HP FPT N67-500 motor. She has the latest in electronics and back-up electronics. Below decks is a full head and a galley area with a microwave. The cockpit is spacious with plenty of room for all six anglers along with a large insulated fish box with plenty of storage space to hold the catch of the day. There are 15 rod holders along Fish Trap's gunnels and transom. For your safety there is an eight man SOLAS life raft and a E-PIRB in addition to all required US Coast Guard safety equipment.

Charter Info FAQ
- Our USCG license only allows us to have six passengers on board whether or not they are fishing. Please send all charter deposits and checks made out to Fish Trap Sportfishing LLC to our mailing address. Our price includes your fishing license, fishing gear, fuel, bait and up to six anglers.
- Making a online deposit firms up open dates. You are required to provide at least two weeks notice of cancellation or you will forfeit your deposit. This is due to costs incurred to prepare for your trip and/or loss of business.
- If the weather is bad on your scheduled day please plan to be at the dock at the pre-arranged departure time. The captain will let you know if the trip has been canceled and then give you your option of rescheduling another day or returning your full refund.
- Our full day inshore trips can be fully customized. For example we may catch striped bass in the early morning and then switch so that you can target fluke and seabass mid-day.
- You can ask to have a trophy fish prepared for transport in order to have it mounted but we suggest that a fiberglass replica looks better and lasts much longer. We can take the proper measurements so that you are able to order a perfect replica from Northeast Taxidermy.
- You may want to bring a small cooler for your food and drinks but a large cooler is not necessary. However, if you plan on taking fish home, we do recommend that you bring a large cooler and leave it in your vehicle unitl we return to the dock.
- As a part of our service to you, we will clean and package your fish when we return to the marina.
- Your mate is normally the hardest worker on every charter. It is customary in RI to tip the mate (15% to 20%) for a good job.
